China Implements Compulsory Product Certification for Lithium-ion Batteries and Other Electronic Products

The State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration has issued a notice requiring compulsory product certification management for lithium-ion batteries and other electronic and electrical products. This includes newly incorporated products such as battery packs, mobile power, and telecommunications terminal products. CCC certification will be mandatory from August 1, 2023, and without the certificate, products cannot be sold or used for business activities. Portable electronic products with lithium-ion batteries and battery packs will undergo CCC certification first, with other products to follow. The certification body will carry out CCC certification of relevant products in accordance with the “lithium-ion batteries and battery packs for portable electronic products Safety Technical Specification” from January 1, 2024.
